|||
Read the list of auction items to spark your interest. Updated 2/25/07. A printout is posted on the bulletin board across from the Main Office and near the check-out table at GLO. Tickets go on sale Monday morning. Volunteers will be in the main hall of the school before and after school Monday through Friday this week. Get your tickets early. $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Melissa in GLO will also have tickets for sale for any parent who’d like to purchase tickets at the end of the day. If anyone has a staple gun we can borrow for the weekend, please contact Angela or Mara. We are in need of 6 – 8 staple guns the night of the auction. We are also in need of donations of paper bags with handles. If you have any paper bags with handles, please drop them off at the ticket selling table or with Patty in the Main Office any day this week. The volunteer sign-up sheets for the night of the auction are in the Main Hallway, near the handicap lift. Call Mara or Angela if you’d like to help out but can’t make it to school to sign up. This is also our last official call for donations. It’s not too late to donate; you can drop off donations with Patty in the Main Office. If you can’t make it to school and want tickets before March 3rd, please contact either Mara marasamara @ yahoo.com) or Angela (adanison @ pacbell.net) and we can make arrangements. For those of you who can not make the auction but would like to bid on lots, there is an absentee/proxy bidding form we can provide you with to official record which items you are interested in winning. You are responsible for finding a friend who will be attending to place your bids during the event. Contact us if you would like a copy of the absentee/proxy bidding form.

Testimonial from Alvarado Parent in picture below To anyone out there who has never been to the Alvarado Auction – you simply MUST go! It is an extraordinary event unlike any other fundraising auction you’ll ever attend! Not only can you spend a fantastic evening out enjoying wonderful food, drink, entertainment and friends, you can also take home some amazing things with the cash and carry goods, and the silent and live auctions - just check out the growing list of donations to help you focus your bidding. The grand finale of the evening - the live auction - features simply remarkable artwork created by our kids and our local artists. These are amazing pieces that are professionally finished for display. One year, my son’s class folded colorful paper into Origami envelopes. As I was walking out of the house to head to the auction, my son said, “Mom, you have to bid on our project.” I said, “You want me to buy folded paper envelopes?” The he added, “We wrote our wishes inside each one.” I arrived at the event not knowing what to expect of these “wish envelopes” and was completely stunned by what I saw. The envelopes had been pieced together like a colorful quilt mounted against a black matte in a shadow-box frame. Knowing that the contents held the wishes of our children, and seeing how beautifully it was displayed was so moving. So come! Socialize, enjoy great food, bid on some things, have some fun, and help boost the budget so you can keep all the wonderful service and programs that – in addition to your support - make Alvarado such a great school! This event is an important PTA fundraiser that allows Alvarado parents and guardians, teachers and staff, and other community members to eat and drink together while bidding on live auction pieces created by the Alvarado students and staff. |
